CLARKSBURG — The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center is seeking qualified volunteer drivers to support the Volunteer Transportation Network.

Drivers will assist veterans with their transportation needs to and from scheduled appointments at one of five locations throughout North Central West Virginia, including the medical center in Clarksburg and community-based outpatient clinics in Westover, Parkersburg, Parsons and Sutton.

Drivers are particularly needed in Calhoun, Marion, Lewis, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Roane, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Webster and Wood counties.

Volunteers must provide proof of a valid West Virginia license, current insurance and have a clean driving history. In addition, drivers are required to pass a physical exam and safety training course, both provided by the VA.

Volunteers also are recognized each year at a ceremony and are eligible for awards from the Disabled American Veterans organization. If interested in assisting, contact Voluntary Service at 1-800-733-0512 extension 3669 or go to www.clarksburg.va.gov and click on the Volunteer tab.
