PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Sheriff's Office released the following reports Oct. 1:
* From Sept. 28-30, the Wood County Sheriff's Office answered 135 calls including: six traffic stops; 19 complaints by phone and in person; five warrants; six domestic calls and domestic protective orders; seven suspicious persons and vehicles; 10 check area, subject, welfare; five disorderly subject, motorist; six accidents; two larcenies; and six mental hygiene.
* On Sept. 28, Phillip C. Kelley, 35, of Morningside Avenue, was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery. He was processed and released on a personal recognizance bond.
* On Sept. 28, Sandra M. Hammond, 58, of Pahlhurst Plaza, was cited for possession of marijuana less than 15 grams.
* On Sept. 28, a deputy spoke with the Maintenance Supervisor at Evergreen Cemetery located on Emerson Avenue in reference to a destruction of property that had already occurred. The deputy observed a tombstone to be detached from the base. The Maintenance Supervisor stated that it had been leaning for about a week, however he suspects, that someone had pushed it over.
* On Sept. 29, a deputy responded to Blennerhassett Heights in reference to a single vehicle accident. The driver had lost control of the vehicle and then left the roadway to the right striking two mailboxes and a telephone pole. The telephone pole was slightly brushed. A crash report was taken.
* On Sept. 29, a deputy responded to Elizabeth Pike in reference to a vehicle accident. Apparently vehicle 1 had pulled out of the Go Mart into the side of vehicle 2 traveling southbound on W.Va. 14. No injuries were reported. Vehicle 1 was driven from the scene and vehicle 2 was left in the parking lot of Go Mart until the owner could return with a tool to change the tire.
* On Sept. 29, deputies responded to U.S. 50 eastbound ramp from East Seventh Street in reference to an accident. The driver was surrounded by good Samaritans who had stopped to check on her. The driver stated she believed she smelled antifreeze and that the rear of her vehicle then lost traction and she drove up on the side of the bridge and flipped her truck. Angela Mae Dowler, 46, of 18th Avenue, Vienna, was cited for driving on suspended.
* On Sept. 30, a deputy responded to Greenpak located on Camden Avenue in reference to a possible structure fire. The Security Officer reported smelling and seeing smoke, deputies entered the building and a slight haze of smoke was located. The building was searched by Blennerhassett and Lubeck Volunteer Fire Departments with no fire found.
* On Sept. 30, a deputy responded to West Circle and DuPont Road in reference to a subject rummaging through the dumpster. Joseph Charles Kirk, 63, of Forest Hills Road, was arrested on a capias for failure to appear where he had been previously cited for no trash service and did not appear for the court trial. He was processed and placed in the Holding Center.
* On Sept. 30, a deputy responded to the 7-11 located on DuPont Road in reference to a shoplifting that had already occurred. The clerk stated that three big bags of Reese's, six Jack Links Jerky and three Skittle Yogurts were taken. A copy of the video footage was taken of the theft and investigation is ongoing.
* On Sept. 30, a deputy responded to Walker Road in reference to a single vehicle crash. The driver stated she was heading home to Harrisville taking the back roads and traveling a little fast trying to avoid a pot hole when she lost control of the vehicle, hit a ditch and the vehicle rolled. No injuries to the driver or passengers and a parent came and picked the subjects up and the vehicle was towed.
