PARKERSBURG -- Three new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday in Wood County Schools.

Wood County Schools reported being informed of a positive COVID 19 case at Parkersburg South High School, one at Edison Middle School and one at Jefferson Elementary Center, according to press releases issued Friday evening.

At the current time, the district had already taken steps to inform individuals that were believe to be directly exposed to the positive individuals. If a person is not contacted by the principal or school nurse, no action is needed at this time.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is working closely with Wood County Schools to identify any other potential persons who may have had close contact with the individuals that tested positive for COVID-19. If the MOVHD determines contact has occurred with the positive individual, those people will be contacted accordingly. Wood County Schools will continue to take appropriate actions, working in collaboration with the health department, to protect the safety and well-being of students and staff.
