Wood County high schools report COVID-19 cases

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Schools were notified of two confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 at both Parkersburg and Parkersburg South High Schools by the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department on Thursday.

According to both releases from the district, the MOVHD is working with the schools to identify anyone who may have had close contact with each individual.

The release does not specify whether the person who tested positive is a student or employee. No one nor any classrooms will need to be quarantined as a result of the positive cases, it said.

Both schools will remain open and no students will be in school for Friday due to being a remote learning day.

The release asks community members to continue to follow established COVID-19 protocols, including handwashing, use of hand sanitizer, wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing.
