Person killed in Boaz house fire

BOAZ — One person is dead following a Friday morning house fire.

The fire was reported around 3 a.m. Friday, according to Williamstown Deputy Fire Chief Paul Jordan. It happened at a residence in the 1800 block of Williams Highway.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

One person died and two other occupants of the house were taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center and released the same day, said Jason Baltic, deputy state fire marshal.

The identity of the deceased has not been released. The body was sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and official identification, Jordan said.

The Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze along with their Vienna and Waverly counterparts and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. The Reno Volunteer Fire Department stood by for Williamstown, Jordan said.
