CHARLESTON -- Officials say a Jackson County man was sentenced to 20 years earlier this month after murdering his wife and burying her in a shallow grave last fall.
James Michael Kiser, 41, Kenna, admitted to murdering his wife, Crystal Kiser, who was reported missing last August, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
During the investigation, the Sheriff's department was able to obtain video, electronic records and conducted several interviews.
Kiser admitted to her murder, which took place at her grandmother's residence on Lessie Lane near Sissonville.
He lead detectives to a private property in a remote location in Kentuck where he buried her, the department said.
Kiser was charged with first degree murder and is currently incarcerated in South Central Regional Jail.
He was sentenced to 20 years with credit for 307 days served, according to the Kanahwa County Circuit Clerk's office.
