The 21st century version of the Jackson Memorial Fountain at City Park was joined together on Wednesday, culminating with the placement of the statue of the Lady of Lake at the top. The fountain, which replaces the original monument that was destroyed in October 2018 by a storm, was reconstructed by Robinson Iron and erected by the Alan Stone Co. The photos taken on Wednesday show how workers attach the parts, all hoisted by crane, followed by the pedestal and the Lady of the Lake. About 15,000 pounds of cast iron was used in the reconstruction. The original fountain was built in 1905 and portions of it were replaced with fiberglass after it was damaged by a lightning strike in the early 1990s.
