WEST UNION -- A Doddridge County man was arrested and charged with soliciting a minor via computer after he posted on Facebook saying he was in love with a 10-year-old girl.
James Matthew Moore, 27, 120 New York Ave., West Union, reportedly in a May 23 post on Facebook said he had been talking to the girl for a few months and said he loved her, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Doddridge County Magistrate Court.
Someone reported the post to law enforcement who then spoke to the girl, the complaint said.
Officials looked through her cell phone and saw messages from Moore with him saying "yeah, but after this I can't be buying you (expletive) because it would make me a (expletive) pedo(file)," the complaint said.
A video on her cell phone showed her laying on a bed in a T-shirt and underwear doing crafts, the complaint said.
She said the video was filmed by Moore in the bedroom of her residence, the complaint said.
Officers noticed Moore would zoom in on the camera to show the girl in her underwear, the complaint said.
In the video, Moore can be heard saying "bad (expletive)" in reference to her coloring in her T-shirt and underwear, the complaint said.
After Moore was located at his residence, he told officers he had stayed the night with the girl and slept in the same room as her, the complaint said.
Moore also said he had started to fall in love with her even though he realized it wasn't right, according to the complaint.
A text was also found in which Moore said he liked the girl as more than a friend, the complaint said.
Moore is being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 surety bond.
