Wood County BOE to meet Tuesday

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, in person and online.

The meeting will be through the Zoom meetings app. A full agenda and link to the meeting can be found on the Wood County Schools website at www.woodcountyschoolswv.com under About Us: Board Docs: Meetings.

The meeting will be similar to a weekend budget session that board members attended in person, but the was broadcast online through Zoom. Board members will take precautions against the spread of COVID-19, including masks and social distancing, while in the boardroom and members of the public are asked to join online.

Members of the public will not be permitted to attend in person to comply with state restrictions on gatherings.

The board Tuesday will receive an update on construction projects throughout the county and a report from Superintendent Will Hosaflook. The board also will vote on personnel and financial matters and a proposal to discontinue a $30 monthly financial contribution to retirees through the Wood County Teachers Retirement Association. The association is in the process of closing out its accounts and ending the retirement program.

The meeting will begin with a public hearing on the proposed 2020-21 budget.
