A Parkersburg man died after an accident Monday afternoon on Grand Central Avenue, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Office.

The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at Grand Central Avenue and Grand Park Drive where Jeremiah Anderson, 43, Parkersburg, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on Grand Central Avenue, attempted to turn left onto Grand Park Drive, the department said. A 2014 Dodge Dart was being driven by a 17-year-old juvenile south on Grand Central, the department said.

The Silverado did not yield the right of way to the Dodge Dart, causing the accident, the department said. The truck continued into the parking lot of Sleep Outfitters where it struck a parked 2017 Nissan Frontier, the department said.

The driver and an occupant in the Dodge and the driver of the Chevrolet were taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, the sheriff's department said.

Shortly thereafter, the sheriff's office was notified by Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair that Anderson had passed away as a result of the accident, the department said.

The accident was investigated by the sheriff's office and the Wood County Crash Team. The Vienna Police Department and Vienna Volunteer Fire Department also responded and assisted.
