GALLIPOLIS -- Two people were seriously injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Ohio 7 in Gallia County, according to the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven south on Ohio 7 by James Vining, 45, of Chauncey, Ohio, crossed the center line and struck a 2015 Hyundai driven north on Route 7 by Mazria Meadows, 29, of Middleport. The road was closed for two hours after the head-on collision, the patrol said.
Meadows' car went off the right side of the road and struck a tree, the patrol said.
Meadows and Vining each sustained incapacitating injuries, the patrol said.
Meadows was flown by medical helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, the patrol said. Vining was taken to the Holzer Clinic in Gallipolis by Gallia County EMS.
The accident, which happened near milepost 34, remains under investigation, the patrol said. The Gallia County Sheriff's Department and the Middleport Fire Department also responded.
