Constellium sees four employees test positive for virus
RAVENSWOOD — Four employees of Constellium Rolled Products in Ravenswood have tested positive for the coronavirus.
“As of today (Friday) four of our team have tested positive for the coronavirus. In conjunction with the health department and CDC guidelines, we have taken the necessary precautions concerning quarantines,” said Buddy Stemple, CEO of Constellium.
Stemple said the company’s first priority is the safety and health of their employees, partners and communities while still protecting the future of the business.
“We are taking several precautions to protect our workforce including regular disinfecting of work areas,” he said.
Stemple said that he is proud of the courage and dedication he has seen from employees during this trying time.
“You can imagine that operating in this environment with 1,200 people and 68 acres under roof is a challenge. I want to thank each of them,” he said.
Stemple said that many of their products are critical in this time of crisis.
“We supply the transportation markets which haul goods to market, as well as our aerospace and U.S. Defense customers,” he said. “Our customers supply medical devices, masks and ventilators.”
It was not stated whether the workers were Jackson County residents or travel to Constellium for work.
At this time according to the Department of Health and Human Resources, Jackson County has 11 confirmed cases and West Virginia has 237.
