PARKERSBURG -- The community gathered to pray and show support for those working in the hospital and the patients inside on Tuesday evening.
"I am overwhelmed by the support that our health care teams received from the entire Mid Ohio Valley," said Christina Douglas, a member of One Church Vienna and one of the event organizers.
Douglas said the medical office parking lot at Camden Clark Medical Center saw between 250 to 300 vehicles.
"I could not have ever dreamed this to have turned out any better," she said.
Douglas said that in addition to the parking lot event, they had generous donations to put toward providing pizzas for the evening shift in the ICU, CVU and COVID-19 units at the hospital and 50 handmade masks from Soothing Stitches.
Tim Craft, founder of High on Hope Ministries, also helped coordinate the "light up the lot" event, and an April 3 gathering called "pray for the city".
"The Bible says there is strength in numbers and power in agreement," said Craft. "I think it is important that we as a community are able to come together, while still following the Center for Disease Control's guidelines, and pray as a unified whole."
Craft said there were 75 to 80 cars at the "pray for the city" event on April 3, which was held in the large parking lot beside Third Street Deli and behind Public Debt.
"We will be holding another pray for the city event this Friday, at the same lot," said Craft.
The event will be at 7:30 p.m. and Craft said there will be prayer led by around five different pastors and music for those who tune in to FM 87.9.
"It is nice to take time to come together and pray for the whole community," said Craft. "It is very inspiring to witness God working and bringing us together during this pandemic."
