WVU Medicine implements no-visitor policy at facilities

PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine on Monday imposed a no-visitors policy with limited exceptions as a precaution over the COVID- 19 coronavirus, including facilities in Parkersburg and Ripley.

The policy for all hospitals and outpatient clinics replaces the one-visitor policy announced by WVU Medicine on March 13.

Limited exceptions will be made for end-of-life situations, pediatrics and OB patients (women in labor). Those patients will still be limited to one visitor.

Visitors who are sick will not be permitted to enter WVU Medicine hospitals under any circumstances, WVU Medicine said.

Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg and Jackson General Hospital in Ripley are both part of WVU Medicine. Other WVU Medicine hospitals in West Virginia are Ruby Memorial and WVU Medicine Children’s hospitals in Morgantown, Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, Summersville Regional Medical Center in and United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

Memorial Health System, which operates Marietta Memorial and Selby General hospitals, imposed a no-visitors policy on March 14 until further notice over precautions with the COVID-19. Exceptions will be considered if necessary for patient care.
