PARKERSBURG -- Several options for child care are still available in the community.
The Parkersburg YMCA recently closed recreational activities to make additional space for child care activities.
As a precaution, each child has their temperature taken before entering the building and they are asked questions to see if they have been exposed to the virus.
Business coordinator Chris Welshans said they are conducting supervised hand washing every hour and making sure the children are in groups of eight or less.
Although Gov. Jim Justice issued a stay-at-home order, Welshans said they are still considered an essential business.
The YMCA currently has 10 kids but their its license through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources allows for 72.
Anyone interested in child care through the YMCA can stop by and fill out the necessary paperwork. The cost is $25 per day.
The Vienna Learning Center also still has space in its 2-, 3- and 4-year-old room and its school-age room.
"Our school age classroom works on math, reading, science and art each day. We also pick up school packets from local elementary schools and will work with students to complete that work," the Learning Center said in a release.
Imagination Station is still operational, but temporarily closed its Avery Street location. It is operational at its Gladstone Street building.
Growing Seasons made the decision to temporarily close starting Wednesday. Owner Lucinda Slusher said they the facility will re-evaluate opening on April 6.
"Even though child care is considered an essential business, the risk for students and staff increases every day. That risk outweighs the benefit," she said.
Julie Slusher, operations manager, said several staff members have an underlying condition and are more at risk.
"It's been a really tough decision, but we fear that we will be more of a problem than a solution. We just don't want to spread any possible disease," she said.
