Brush fire results in power outage

WALKER — Several volunteer fire departments battled a brush fire Sunday afternoon in the Walker area which caused power outages affecting an unknown number of customers.

The Wood County 911 Center reported receiving a call regarding a brush fire in the 200 block of Mount Carmel Road in the Walker area around 1:51 p.m. Sunday.

Units from Deerwalk, East Wood and Elizabeth/Wirt County volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze. Some power lines were affected by the fire, causing outages in the area.

No further information was available Sunday afternoon.
