PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Board of Education meets today to receive an update on construction and renovation projects and to hold the first public hearing on Wood County Schools 2020-21 school calendar.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the board's 13th and Plum streets offices in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public.
The board will receive presentations on multiple projects throughout the district, including construction of a new school in Williamstown, expansion of Williamstown High School, expansion and renovation of the Wood County Technical Center in south Parkersburg, and security upgrades at numerous area schools.
The board also will hold the first public hearing on a proposed calendar for the upcoming school year. Due to some uncertainty on possible state Legislature changes to school calendar creation, multiple possible calendars are expected to be presented at tonight's meeting.
The board also is expected to vote on two student expulsions for violation of the state's Safe Schools Act.
