Fire damages restaurant in Pomeroy

POMEROY – A fire heavily damaged a restaurant in Pomeroy on Sunday morning, officials said.

The fire at the Wild Horse Cafe on West Main Street was reported around 4:40 a.m. to the Pomeroy Fire Department. Flames and smoke were seen from the front roof when firefighters arrived, the department said on its Facebook page.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal and the fire department. No injuries were reported.

Thirty-five firefighters responded, including from Pomeroy, the Middleport Fire Department and Rutland Fire Department. Meigs County medical squads and the sheriff’s department also responded.
