PARKERSBURG -- A single-vehicle crash and fire on Old St. Marys Pike Thursday sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and authorities are looking for two passengers who fled the scene.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of Parkersburg earlier Thursday, according to Wood County Sheriff's Department Lt. J. Allen.
The crash happened near the intersection of Old St. Marys Pike and Johnson Creek around 1 p.m. A car struck a power pole, catching fire and knocking out power to nearby homes.
Witnesses say two passengers pulled the driver out of the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Wood County Sheriff's deputies and the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department responded to the crash. The car fire took several minutes to put out and the power pole which was struck also caught fire.
A section of Old St. Marys Pike was blocked both directions while responders worked at the scene.
The names of those involved in the incident were unavailable Thursday.
