ATHENS, Ohio -- A man and woman wanted in connection with a Sunday morning killing in Athens County are in custody at a West Virginia jail.
According to a press release from the Athens Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 117 W. Washington St. around 5:08 a.m. Sunday and discovered a man identified as Floyd Lester Hart, 37, of Campbell Road in Athens, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the emergency room at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival, the release says.
The department announced Dylan Secoy, 26, of Albany, was a suspect in the shooting and considered armed and dangerous.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department in southern West Virginia conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Secoy and a woman were believed to be traveling in after receiving a tip that they were in the Beckley area. A post on the Raleigh sheriff's office Facebook page said the two were arrested after "a brief standoff with deputies."
Athens Police said Secoy is charged with murder and Rachael Povosky, 18, who was arrested with him, is charged with complicity to murder. Both are being held without bond in the Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County, pending extradition proceedings.
The release did not discuss a motive for the shooting. Athens Police said Monday no additional information was being released at this time.
