PARKERSBURG -- Police have arrested a suspect in a Thursday evening shooting and are continuing to investigate two other suspects.
Jeffrey Alan Caplinger, 30, of Parkersburg, was arrested around 2:20 p.m. today in the vicinity of David Lee Drive and Gihon Road, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said. He was located with the assistance of tips from the public after his name and picture were released by police earlier in the day.
Caplinger was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court on a charge of armed robbery and held without bond, because it is a capital offense.
According to police, Caplinger and two other suspects entered the home of William Glover at 400 16th St., Apt. 6, Parkersburg, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Glover reportedly fled into a bathroom and Caplinger fired a pistol into the closed door and wall, striking the victim multiple times.
Suspects pulled Glover into the apartment’s living area, where they removed property from his pockets and fled, the release said.
Martin said Glover and Caplinger were acquaintances and the robbery was not random.
Glover was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Martin said the investigation is ongoing as police work to locate the other suspects. He declined to release their names at this time but said he does not believe there’s any imminent danger to the public.
