Parkersburg High School student finalist for fellowship

CHARLESTON -- A student from Wood County was a finalist for 2020 Student Symphonic Fellow in the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra's Andrew and Amy Vaughan Fellowship Program.

Christian Deem is a tubist at Parkersburg High School.

The symphony chose Phillip "Nicky" Keefover, a junior at Fairmont Senior High School, as the Student Symphonic Fellow at a Jan. 10 audition and interview at the Clay Center in Charleston. The son of Melissa and Phillip Keefover, he plays the alto saxophone in the high school concert band, jazz band, saxophone quintet, the Mountaineer Honor Band, Fairmont State Honor Band and the Marion County Honor Band.

Other finalists were Sophie Agrawal, a clarinetist at Huntington High School, and Camden Wentz, a cellist at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
