MARIETTA -- Marietta City Council adopted two ordinances and two resolutions Monday in its final business meeting of the 2018-19 legislative term.
Ordinance 279 authorized a temporary part-time clerk position for the police department through March 31.
The position is currently a temporary position under the police department, but with the new resolution extends the clerk role until spring.
"I've requested that Law Director (Paul) Bertram include the sunset clause to give us time to have the discussion before we proceed permanently," said Employee Relations Chairwoman Cassidi Shoaf.
The ordinance passed unanimously.
Ordinance 280 concluded the final transfers and appropriations to close out city accounting for 2019.
Resolution 94 authorized the offer for purchase of 615-619 Putnam St., for $8,000, for the purposes of demolition in 2020.
Bertram explained to council that the owner of the property, Robert Taylor, has until 11:59 p.m. to accept the city offer.
The property is currently blighted and putting underground city infrastructure at risk at the corner of Seventh and Putnam streets.
Resolution 95 directed the city auditor to establish a Marietta Water Facilities Upgrade Fund as a capital fund for the city.
The legislative body concluded its term Monday and the newly elected body is to be sworn into office Wednesday at 9 a.m. on the steps of City Hall before holding its first business meeting of the year in room 10 of the Armory, 241 Front St. at 10:30 a.m.
