VIENNA -- The local chapter of the American Red Cross and Greenmont Racquet Club will be conducting an indoor tennis tournament next month with proceeds going to support the Red Cross.
The tournament will be Jan. 3-5 at the Greenmont Racquet Club in Vienna. This is a non-sanctioned event designed to provide local tennis players of every level a chance to compete, the club said. This tournament is open to adults and juniors of all tennis abilities. There will be singles and doubles events.
Adult categories are: Open men's singles, Intermediate men's singles, Open men's doubles, 4.0 and higher, Intermediate doubles for players rated no higher than 3.5 or without a rating.
There will be Open women's singles, Open women's doubles, Intermediate women's doubles and low intermediate doubles for 3.0 and un-rated players, and Open mixed doubles and Intermediate mixed doubles.
Junior divisions will have 18 and under singles and doubles, and 14 and under singles and doubles in both boys and girls divisions.
The entry fee is $25 for singles and $40 per team for doubles. Each player may enter a maximum of three events.
Entry forms are available at the Greenmont Racquet Club. The deadline for entry is Wednesday, Jan. 1 at 6 p.m. Entries can be mailed to Greenmont Racquet Club, 816 55th St., Vienna, WV 26105.
