PARKERSBURG -- The Mid-Ohio Valley Toys for Tots will hold several upcoming events to raise money and collect toys for area children for the holidays.
Toys for Tots Wendy's Community Night will be held 4-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Wendy's restaurant at 2602 Gihon Road in south Parkersburg.
The Toys for Tots train will be at the location collecting donations and new unwrapped toys. Tickets for upcoming events will also be sold. A portion of all sales that evening will be donated to Toys for Tots, including dine-in, takeout and drive-thru.
The next event will be Santa's Sweet Charity from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 14 at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. It is a dessert competition to benefit Mid-Ohio Valley Toys for Tots.
The event will be held in WVU-P's multipurpose room. Visitors can sample treats provided by eight local competitors and vote for their favorites to earn them the people's choice award winner. Local celebrity judges will determine winners in the three following categories: presentation, creativity and taste.
All bakers will be displaying their goodies while following the "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" theme.
Live music will be provided and local vendors will display their products, along with door prizes and raffles.
Admission is $5 at the door. Organizers will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots that evening.
Another event will be Toys for Tots' Thirty-One Stuffed Bag Bingo at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Mineral Wells Elementary School.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. There will be an early bird drawing, raffles, balloon burst, door prizes and concessions. Tickets are $20 for 20 games.
Over $1,700 in totes will be given away that evening and all totes will be themed and stuffed. New unwrapped toys will be collected that evening to be donated to local children.
