LUBECK — Lubeck Elementary School students on Thursday celebrated Heroes Day by welcoming guests from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.

The event was part of national Red Ribbon Week which seeks to bring awareness of drug abuse and bullying. Lubeck Elementary officials said the students have been participating in a variety of themed events throughout the week and Heroes Day gave students in all grade levels the chance to interact with law enforcement in a positive and informative way.

Students Thursday presented Sheriff Steve Stephens $250 for the department’s K9 Unit, which was raised on dollar hat day earlier in the week.

Starting at $2.99/week.
