PARKERSBURG -- Local cooks, bakers and decorators competed in The Parkersburg News and Sentinel's 65th annual Cookbook Contest.
The Tasting Party for the event took place Wednesday afternoon in the Christian Fellowship Center at the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church.
Twenty finalists were chosen from a pool of submissions. The finalists brought their best dishes and decorations to win over the panel of judges, which featured Jess Mancini, Kiki Angelos, Sarah Jalbert and Mrs. Joseph C. Snyder. Christina Myer, executive editor of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel, facilitated the taste tests.
Four categories were represented: party snacks, main dishes, cakes and desserts. The judges not only analyzed the food, but the presentation of the dish as well. Each participant filled their space with decorations that went along with their dishes.
A grand prize winner will be announced in the 2019 edition of the Cookbook in the Nov. 24 edition of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel.
