WILLIAMSTOWN -- Students from Wood County Christian School in Williamstown joined nearly 800 other students from around the state on Wednesday in Charleston for the rally sponsored by the National School Choice Week.
The purpose of this rally was to celebrate National School Choice Week and to rally for legislation in support of Education Savings Accounts for residents of West Virginia, said Head of School at Wood County Christian School Daryl Van Norman. The auditorium was filled to capacity as the students heard key leaders speak on the issues of school/family choice, he said.
Leaders at the rally indicated that this was the largest school choice rally of its kind in the state, said Van Norman.
The goal of National School Choice Week is to raise awareness about the K-12 education options available to families in communities across the country, Van Norman said. "During the week, participants also shine a spotlight on the benefits of opportunity in education and providing parents with access to a variety of education environments for their children," he said.
