PARKERSBURG — A car lost control and crashed through the doors of Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant on Emerson Avenue Friday morning as a result of a suspected road rage incident.
Parkersburg Police were notified around 7:24 a.m. of a situation involving two vehicles, a 2000 Ford Mustang and a light-colored Pontiac Grand Prix, traveling south into the city on Emerson Avenue, Sgt. S.E. Carpenter said. Shortly after that, the crash was reported.
The vehicles were traveling north on Emerson and “made contact a couple of times” before the Mustang lost control and ran into the 4542 Emerson Ave. restaurant, which was closed at the time, Carpenter said.
No one was inside the restaurant when the crash occurred. Carpenter said there was no blood or other indication of serious injury inside the car.
Los Agaves manager Juan Bargas said the business’ security cameras recorded two men and a woman exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene. Police said the individuals had not been identified as of Friday afternoon and the incident remained under investigation.

The owner of the Mustang was located using the car’s VIN number, because the tags belonged on a different vehicle, Carpenter said. The owner, who lives just outside Parkersburg, is not believed to have been involved in the incident, he said.
There may have been a third vehicle involved, Carpenter said, but no description of it was available.
