And with the circular structure providing practically a blank canvas, wreath decorating has taken off for many regardless of creative ability.
“I made a fall wreath with grapevines and fall leaves and flowers,” said Angie Seese, of Lowell, who took a Christmas wreath-making class at A Unique Flower and Gift Shop in Marietta. “Even if you have no talent you can style one step by step and they look beautiful.”
It’s all about creating depth and balance, said those at the class.
“And I always recommend getting ribbon with a wire, that way you can fluff the bow more at the end,” said Cheryl Lang, owner of the shop. “When you’re placing your accent pieces, they will pretty much fill up any empty spots on your wreath.”

Angela Schnabel, of Marietta, could be considered a pro when it comes to bows.
“I took a horticulture class so I’ve been making bows for years,” she said, laughing. “But with wreaths they’re fun because you can put pretty much anything you want on there, ornaments, or wrap them in tulle.”
Wreaths can be made of pine needles and accented with red ribbon and berries and white-capped pine cones or accented with the silvers, blues and whites of a more wintry theme.
Or they can simply have an abundant array of poinsettia flowers with a stick or two of cinnamon.
