PARKERSBURG – Cantus, a Minnesota-based vocal ensemble, will perform 7 p.m. Thursday at West Virginia University at Parkersburg in the College Activities Center.
The concert is in the Distinguished Performance Series.
Tickets are on sale in the WVU Parkersburg Business Office from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. or by calling (304) 424-8223. Adults are $10 and students are $5.
The group, cited by as “the premiere men’s vocal ensemble in the United States” by Fanfare, is one of two full-time vocal ensembles in the country. In addition to a subscription series in the twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Cantus nationally and internationally tours, has released 15 albums, regularly presents master classes and workshops in schools, and has been featured on public radio’s “Performance Today” and “A Prairie Home Companion.”
Cantus is known worldwide for its blend and musical repertoire from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. It commissions new music with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Chamber Music America and the American Composers Forum and has been recognized with awards from Chorus America for “Choral Excellence” and “Educational Outreach.”
