MARIETTA – The bid for the Washington County Home roof repainting project was awarded Thursday morning during the Washington County Commission weekly meeting.

The bid from Masters Professional Painting Inc. of Carroll, Ohio, totaled $31,495.50. It was not the lowest bid.

“The low bid was actually $29,200,” said Commissioner Tim Irvine.

Irvine said the expertise of Columbus-based Kastra LLC, the low bidder, was not on painting metal roofs, but water tanks.

“I was told they really hadn’t done a metal roof,” he said.

Irvine said he asked for references and didn’t hear back so he reached out to Masters.

“Their primary focus is metal roof painting,” he said. “They do it all over the country.”
