CHARLESTON — Since Friday’s update, 29 more West Virginians lost their lives to the coronavirus, including two from Wood County. In Monday’s report, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said a 68-year-old female and a 75-year old male from Wood County died from the virus along with a 92-year-old male from Ritchie County and a 60-year-old female from Roane County. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, 242 Wood County residents have died from the virus, as of Monday morning. Officials tout COVID boosters

Staff Report CHARLESTON — Another 25 people have been confirmed as COVID-19 deaths in West Virginia, including two Wood Countians, the Department of Health and Human Resources said Friday. The department in its Friday morning update reported the deaths of 55- and 71-year-old women from Wood County and a 66-year-old man from Ritchie County. Staff Report CHARLESTON — Active cases rose around 200 from Wednesday to Thursday in West Virginia, according to the Department of Health and Human Resources. The department reported 8,634 active cases statewide, up from 8,469 on Wednesday. Another 1,100 new cases were received in the 24-hour period from Wednesday to Thursday morning.
