COVID-19 cases still rising in West Virginia

CHARLESTON — Coronavirus patients again exceed 600 in state hospitals where nearly 80 percent are unvaccinated, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Of the 602 people in the hospital, 481, or 79.9 percent, are unvaccinated. The state reported 208 cases in an intensive care unit, of which 173, or 83.2 percent, are unvaccinated. More than 85 percent of patients on a ventilator, 108 of the 126, are unvaccinated. Hospital admissions of coronavirus patients have not been this high since the end of October. West Virginia COVID cases continue upward trend

CHARLESTON — Active coronavirus cases again rose more than 200 from Tuesday to Wednesday morning, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The state reported 8,482 active cases on Wednesday, up 233 cases from 8,249 on Tuesday. Active cases are generally trending upward, but the pandemic high was 29,744 set Sept. 16. Five new COVID-19 deaths reported in area

Staff Report CHARLESTON — Five people from the region were among the confirmed deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus in West Virginia where the fatalities since the pandemic started in 2020 passed 5,000 on Tuesday, according to the Department of Health and Human Resources. Arguments submitted to Wood County judge in challenge to school mask mandate

PARKERSBURG — In documents filed in Wood County Circuit Court, attorneys argue whether state law gives the Wood County Board of Education the authority to require students to wear masks to combat the spread of COVID-19. CHARLESTON — Active COVID-19 cases in West Virginia topped 8,000 Monday, according to the latest update from the state Department of Health and Human Resources. The state reported 8,031 active cases, up from 7,673 on Friday. A total of 689 new cases were reported over the weekend, with some people dropping off the rolls. Active cases of the COVID-19 virus on Friday were reported at 7,673, an increase of 560 cases from Thursday’s 7,113.
