Jackson County man among latest West Virginia COVID deaths

CHARLESTON — Six more deaths were reported from the virus on Friday including a 69-year-old man from Jackson County, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said. While active cases rose to 1,432 on Friday from 1,305 on Thursday, active cases have been on a downward trend. The state also reported 469 new cases of the virus have been received between Thursday and Friday mornings. CHARLESTON — West Virginia COVID-19 case numbers are at their lowest point in about a year, but nearly 100 residents have died from the virus since Gov. Jim Justice’s last COVID briefing on Monday. CHARLESTON — Another 56 West Virginia deaths were attributed to COVID-19 Thursday, most from an ongoing examination of death certificates going back to January. Red Cross resumes testing blood donations for COVID antibodies

PARKERSBURG — For a limited time, the American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood, and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Plasma from routine donations that have high levels of COVID-19 antibodies may be used as convalescent plasma to help meet the needs of COVID-19 patients with weakened immune systems.
