West Virginia reports 17 more COVID deaths, slight drop in cases

CHARLESTON — Seventeen more deaths from the COVID-19 virus including a man and woman from Wood and Wetzel counties were reported Wednesday in WestVirginia by the Department of Health and Human Resources. The additional 17 raises the state’s death toll from the virus to 7,223 people. The department noted that of the 6,128 people who died after vaccines became available, 5,078 were not fully vaccinated. Reported active cases of COVID-19 continue to drop in West Virginia

Staff Report CHARLESTON — Active cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus again dropped in West Virginia, the state Department of Health and Human Resources reported on Tuesday. Cases declined from 2,891 on Monday morning to 2,754 on Tuesday morning, according to the Tuesday morning pandemic update from the department.
