PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Democrat Party will host a free lunch and an opportunity for residents to meet local and statewide Democratic candidates who are appearing on the Wood County ballot from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Parkersburg City Park.
The event will be held at Shelter 1 next to the Henry Cooper Cabin Museum near the Washington Avenue entrance.
The lunch will feature bean soup, cornbread, cookies and water.
"Attendees will get the opportunity to chat with our Democratic candidates, enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon and have a bowl of soup and dessert," said Jeff Fox, chairman of the Wood County Democratic Executive Committee. "There are picnic tables for seating, but folks may want to bring their camp chairs if they want something a little more comfortable."
The Parkersburg Area Labor Council made a donation of cookies and water for the event.
"This year we have a full slate of candidates running in Wood County for the West Virginia Legislature, so we have something for folks from all over the county," Fox said. "We might even sneak in some musical special guests."
