PADEN CITY – With the arrival of October, the town of Paden City welcomes the opening of the Paden City Development Authority’s Haunted House, aka Fear Factory.

Last year, creators Kevin Yoho and Kenny Kline went before the town council, along with the PCDA to request funding to create a haunted house for the community, with an emphasis on doing Something for Our Community. With great eagerness the two set about creating their ideas from within their heads, to a real Halloween world in the old Paden City Middle School.

To say their idea was a success would be under selling the response from the community. In fact, it went well beyond the hopes for attendance, and people welcomed the idea for Halloween.

With that success behind them, they are super excited to once again be given the financial backing from the community along with PCDA to create a bigger, more elaborate and spookier haunted house located in the Paden city business park (formally Corning Glassworks)

Cork Bowen, President of the PCDA explained, "our group saw the success at last year’s undertaking, and realized the potential for a bigger and better event that could be had. Their vision and eagerness to make this real is what drove them to a lot of hard work, and long hours creating last year's and again this year's. Kevin and Kenny began in August manufacturing this year’s haunted house. They began with ideas, then storyboarded those ideas, and finally built each set".

With their eagerness to do something for their community, the PCDA offered the building which previously housed pontoon boats for the winter to be used as the new location for the haunted house.

The two men when asked, what will the visitors see when they come to this year's haunted house. Both hesitated; they only offered to visit eleven rooms, each with differing ghoulish and spooky themes guaranteed to excite and scare visitors. They did not want to give anything away as to exactly what will be inside each room.

They did say, they were very grateful to their employer, Certain Teed, for donating many sheets of drywall which helped make the room bigger and more stable and reusable next year. They have been impressed by the number of local school students volunteering to help create the fear factory and taking part as actors during the event.

Last year over 700 people visited the haunted house. With it being bigger and spookier, they anticipate an even bigger turn out this year. The new venue is larger, it has enabled the architects of doom to add more rooms and create some wizardry for the attendees

When asked if emergency people will be on hand, they responded that last year a few were over-stimulated by what was inside. They emphasized; it was not the younger visitors, but adults. It is important for those coming to the Fear Factory to know it is all in fun, and the sets and actors are there for your enjoyment. To enhance the experience for families attending together, make sure everyone stays together, and please don't allow children to run ahead of the group for safety, and enjoyment. Kevin and Kenny estimated it takes 15 minutes to go through this year's PADEN CITY'S FEAR FACTORY!

The nights of the events will be on, October 9 and 10th, Oct 16,17, Oct 23 and 24, and Oct 30th a 31. Cost will be $10.00. All are welcome to come out and support this fun opportunity for folks in Paden City and surrounding communities. Enjoy the creation and the special events brought to you by people who truly love Halloween and feel privileged to share it with everyone.
