Washington County Fair opens with weekend in Marietta

MARIETTA - The Washington County Fair kicks off this Labor Day weekend for its 175th anniversary for four days from Saturday to Tuesday.

With many exciting events over the four day period, the fair includes the Saturday morning parade, food, entertainment, tractor pulls, harness races and a laser light show Sunday night.

"I think its a great accomplishment," said Ron Offenberger, president of the Washington County Senior Fair Board.

Performances will also include The Magical Adventure show, The Cincinnati Circus, Dog Sport showcase, The Columbus zoo, and the return of DinoROAR throughout the weekend.

Parimutuels are coming back to the Washington County Fair, with a post time of 1 p.m. on Sunday and Monday for approximately 20 races.

The Jr. Fair Livestock sale will be Tuesday at 1 p.m., with hogs being included in the sale for the first time in many years, said Offenberger.

The 4-H Pancake Flippin' Breakfast will be Monday from 8 – 10 p.m. in the Jr. Fair building and breakfast is by donation. It is a 4-H fundraiser organized by the Washington County 4-H Endowment Committee.

Monday is Military and Veteran Appreciation Day with free admission for all veterans and active military with a military ID at the front gate.

There will be a $1 Roller Skate at the Roller Rink every night from 6 – 9 p.m.

Daily admission is $12, with a week pass for $30, and a membership pass for $35. All children under four get in for free and parking is by donation.
