Trinity book sale starts Oct. 7

PARKERSBURG - The 2026 edition of the Trinity Episcopal Church Used Book Sale will be held Oct. 7-10.
The event will be held in the church's Trinity Hall, 430 Juliana St. For more than 75 years, the book sale has helped support local community and church programs.
The 2026 sale features a number of updated services and attractions. For the first time, the Trinity Episcopal Church Used Book Sale will be able to accept credit cards on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 7-9. On Saturday, Oct. 10, payment options return to traditional cash and check only.
"Shoppers sometimes find more irresistible books and treasures than they anticipated, and need more cash than they brought with them," says Lynn Fury, book sale chairperson. "These days, people are used to paying with credit cards. This year, we will be able to offer them that option on Wednesday through Friday, the weekdays of the sale."
To process credit card purchases, patrons can follow the ramp from the main book floor to the Treasures and Treats room, where arts, crafts and baked goods are displayed.
Patrons can also take advantage of the sale's bustling opening day extended hours.
The 2026 book sale hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 10, 9-noon.
"We will have a huge selection of good books at good prices. This year, we are streamlining our pricing," said Fury. "Hardcover books - large or small, thick or thin - are $3."
Paperbacks will be priced by regular size for $2 or small for $1.
"This year we will use a template for a quick, objective way to determine what qualifies as small," Fury said. "We will place 4.25-by-7.5-inch color blocks at each checkout table, and in convenient locations in the stacks. If the book fits within the block, it's small, and sells for the small price of $1."
The children's selection now encompasses young child to young adult and has been relocated this year.
"The children's section is no longer on the stage but on the floor level next to it. No more climbing the stairs!" Fury said. "It is in a much more convenient place to browse."
Shoppers can also buy hot dogs, soups or desserts for lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
