MARIETTA -- Disability Rights Ohio's annual Duck Derby will return to the Muskingum River for a sixth consecutive year Wednesday, Sept. 23, raising money for the nonprofit's advocacy work for people with disabilities.
Hundreds of plastic ducks will be released into the river about 5 p.m. The sponsors of the first three ducks to reach the finish line will receive cash prizes of $500 for first place, $250 for second and $125 for third.
The Marietta High School Tiger Navy will help retrieve the winning ducks.
Ducks can be sponsored for $5 each through the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 22.
"We are thrilled to return to Marietta for this fun event," said Kerstin Sjoberg, Disability Rights Ohio president and CEO. "We appreciate the support of the community and all our partners in raising additional funding to support our work and increasing awareness of our organization throughout the state."
The race will be livestreamed on Disability Rights Ohio's Facebook page. Duck sponsorships and additional information are available at disabilityrightsohio.org/duck-derby.
This year's event is presented by OPOC.us, Cawley Hospice and Gelli Holdings, with additional support from Schneider Downs and PNC.
Disability Rights Ohio is a nonprofit that provides legal advocacy and rights protection for people with disabilities. It serves as Ohio's federally and state-designated Protection and Advocacy System and Client Assistance Program.
