Annual German Fest returns to First Lutheran Church Oct. 3

PARKERSBURG - The annual German Fest at First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event is planned for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church at 1701 19th St.
The traditional German bratwurst meal will include warm German potato salad, grilled brats and buns, sauerkraut, green peppers and onions, and spaetzle and gravy. The meal will also include a dessert and drink for the price of $15. A hot dog meal with homemade sauce, chips, dessert and drink will be available for children (and adults if they prefer) for $5.
Food will be served in the Fellowship Hall until 2 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be sold so organizers recommend guests come early.
The popular German Band will be performing on the lawn. Some pop-up tents and tables will be set up, and guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Sherry Fosselman, First Lutheran organist, will present a 30-minute organ concert at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
At 1 p.m., Pastor Ian Reid will give an illustrated presentation, "Meanings and Symbols," about the First Lutheran Church Sanctuary. He will share insight into the many items, symbols and recently refurbished stained glass windows that are part of the various worship services in the church.
