World Embroidery Day will be observed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Bolts and Quarters Quilt Shop in Parkersburg.
The exhibit and event are free and participants are encouraged to bring a project and sit and sew with other stitchers.
The entries for the exhibits are not judged and can be entered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Entries must be hand crafted and can include candle wicking, chicken scratch, counted cross stitch, crewel embroidery, embroidery, hardanger, needlepoint, quilting, red work, black work, sashiko, slow stitch and tafting.
Door prizes, refreshments, the T&S BBQ Food Truck and a Stitch Fix Rx to the first 100 visitors. A highlight of the show will be a Walk in Time, Karen Phillips-Shwallon Trunk Show at 11 a.m.

World Embroidery Day is celebrated every July 30. It was created in 2011 in Sweden in 2011 by the Swedish Embroiderer’s Guild to promote creativity, peace, freedom and equality through the art of stitching.
