Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Mardel in Vienna closing

By Amber Phipps 1 min read

VIENNA – One Vienna restaurant has closed and another Grand Central Avenue business is headed in that direction.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at 311 Grand Central Ave. closed recently with no further information available as of Tuesday. The restaurant was boarded up and all online contact options have been disconnected. The sign above the building reads “closed.”

Vienna Mayor Chad Emrick said the city doesn't have any additional information other than that the business has closed.

"Unless there's a state mandate, we don't have access to any of that information since it's a private business," he said.

The Popeyes in Vienna opened October 2016. Nearly a decade later, its windows and doors are boarded up with plywood.

Just down the street from Popeyes is Mardel Christian and Education which has signs up announcing its impending closure. Clearance sales have been going on for weeks, and the amount of remaining merchandise is dwindling. An exact closing date was not posted.

Officials with Popeyes or Mardel could not be reached for comment this week.
