Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, Red Cross partner for volunteer recruitment
PARKERSBURG – The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department and the American Red Cross of the Central Appalachia Region are partnering in two events to recruit additional volunteers to aid in disasters and health emergencies.
Recruitment drives will be held from 10 a.m.to noon Thursday, June 11, at St. Joseph Landing, 1824 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg, and from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 26, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer. Prospective volunteers can chat with team members, prepare applications and begin training.
“We would love for more community-minded individuals to join us in helping our area during health-related events and emergencies,” said Derek Wilson, threat preparedness coordinator for the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department.
Volunteers from the community are critical in times of disaster to help neighbors in need, Sharon Kesselring, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Ohio River Valley, said.
“And we need your help” she said.
The health department serves Wood, Wirt, Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie and Roane counties and has offices at St. Joseph Landing that are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 304-485-7374 or go to movhd.com.
