Parkersburg Housing Expo slated for Wednesday
PARKERSBURG – Local groups are organizing an event this week aimed at providing answers and assistance with a host of housing issues.
The Parkersburg Housing Expo 2026 is slated for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Landing on Murdoch Avenue.
“Our goal is to have in one location any aspect of housing,” said Lisa Doyle-Parsons, executive director of the Circles Campaign of the Mid-Ohio Valley and an organizer of the expo with Parkersburg City Councilwoman Wendy Tuck and Ron Tomasch of Polaris Home Funding.
Those aspects include emergency, recovery, senior, veteran and rental housing, as well as home repairs and improvements.
“Affordable housing is a major issue for this community,” Doyle-Parsons said. “This is a way to connect people with the units that are available or explore options” to improve existing housing so they don’t need to move.
However, Doyle-Parsons added that the event is for “every demographic,” from people who are homeless to middle class and wealthier individuals looking to make improvements or build.
Tuck said the expo not only provides an opportunity for individuals to get help with housing issues but allows businesses and agencies to network and look at potential solutions to problems.
“I know that when people come together to solve problems they do a good job,” she said.
In addition to tables where real estate professionals, lenders and representatives of programs that provide assistance will be set up, there will be workshops every half hour on a variety of topics.
“People can go and sit in on a workshop in a separate room,” Doyle-Parsons said.
The topics include:
* 4 p.m. – Emergency housing options
* 4:30 p.m. – Applying for rental assistance
* 5 p.m. – Recovery housing options
* 5:30 p.m. – Rental opportunities with apartments and landlords
* 6 p.m. – Buying real estate in the MOV
* 6:30 p.m. – First-time home buyers financing
* 7 p.m. – Home improvement and construction financing
* 7:30 p.m. – Buying real estate and financing Q&A
There will be refreshments and door prizes, with the grand prize a five-day Myrtle Beach vacation.
