TDaP, meningitis vaccines offered to upcoming Wood County 7th graders

PARKERSBURG – The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department and middle schools in Williamstown, Vienna and Parkersburg will offer TDaP and meningitis vaccines to students.

The health department’s mobile clinical staff on April 2 will be at Williamstown Middle School/High School, Jackson Middle School, Edison Middle School and Hamilton Middle School.

Consent from the student’s parents or legal guardian is required to receive the vaccines, the health department said. The documents are available from the school nurse.

TDaP is a tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine recommended for ages 11-12. The meningitis vaccine is recommended for the same age group and then a booster at 16.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department serves Wood, Wirt, Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie and Roane counties and is at 1824 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg, where the offices are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
