Mid-Ohio Valley scoutmaster receives Silver Beaver Award

VIENNA — The scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 20 in Vienna on Saturday received the Silver Beaver Award from the Buckskin Council, Scouting America.
Scoutmaster Eric Reitmire received the award at the council’s annual recognition dinner in Charleston.
Established in 1931, the Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor an adult volunteer leader can receive and recognizes service, dedication and leadership.
Reitmire is a lifelong Scout who earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 20 in 1988. He returned to scouting in 1998 and was a den leader for three years and the Pack 6 cubmaster for seven years.
He was an assistant scoutmaster for two years and has served as scoutmaster for Troop 20 since 2001.
Reitmire has assisted with recruiting, pinewood derbies and crossover ceremonies, camporees and summer camps. He has volunteered to improve and maintain Camp Kootaga and is a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and earned the District Award of Merit in 2023.
Reitmire works for Alarm System Pro LLC. He and his wife Jenni live in Davisville and they have three children and eight grandchildren.
