PARKERSBURG — Registration opens Sunday for the Parkersburg Art Center’s Camp Creativity.

This year’s program invites students to become artistic detectives with the theme “Unlocking the Mysteries of Art.”

“In art, there is never just one answer. Possibilities are limitless,” said Jessie Siefert, managing director at the Parkersburg Art Center. “Camp Creativity opens your child up to this world of endless possibilities. This theme is very open-ended, and we look forward to seeing how it is interpreted by each instructor and the student artists.”

The camp is open to children from preschoolers picking up a brush for the first time to high schoolers refining their technique, according to a release from the Art Center.

* Mini Camp (ages 4-5): June 8-12 and Aug. 3-7

* Grades one to three: June 15-19, July 6-10 and July 27-31

* Grades four through six: June 22-26 and July 20-24

* Teen Mixed Media: July 13-17

* Teen Clay Camp: Aug. 3-6

Because the lesson plans change every week, children can be signed up for multiple sessions without worrying about repeat projects, the release said.

Classes are led by Art Center staff, professional school teachers and working artists, supported by teen volunteers, in an effort to ensure every child gets one-on-one attention to bring a full portfolio of work home on Friday, the release said.

The center offers need-based scholarships thanks to the support of the Henry Logan Children’s Home Foundation. Families receiving services through the DHHR are encouraged to reach out to info@parkersburgartcenter.org regarding scholarships before completing their registration.

Parents can sign their children up starting Sunday by visiting www.parkersburgartcenter.org.

The Art Center is a nonprofit, community arts organization where all are welcome. Questions can be emailed to info@parkersburgartcenter.org.

Starting at $2.99/week.
