MARIETTA — The City of Marietta Water Department is advising residents that water hardness levels may be higher than usual through September as upgrades continue at the city’s water treatment plant and new systems are brought online.
In a release, city officials said the improvements are part of an ongoing investment in infrastructure aimed at improving long-term water quality, reliability and system performance. Temporary adjustments to the treatment process during the upgrade period may increase mineral content in the water supply.
According to the release, residents may notice more mineral buildup on fixtures, spots on dishes or reduced soap lathering. The water remains safe to drink and continues to meet all state and federal drinking water standards, the department said.
The upgrades are expected to be completed by September, at which time water hardness levels are expected to return to normal.
